Bret joined Capital Associates in 2003. For nearly 20 years, he has represented Triangle-area tenants, landlords, and investors in the field of commercial development and brokerage. Bret structures new developments, facilitates asset acquisitions and dispositions, brokers lease and sales transactions throughout NC, and oversees the leasing / marketing activities for a 375,000 sf class-A and medical office portfolio. In 2013 alone, Bret brokered more than $20 million in lease transactions and over $81 million in sales transactions. His accounting background enables him to direct complex valuation analyses, and he regularly serves as Special Real Estate Advisor for NC bankruptcy attorneys in Chapter 11 proceedings, so far totaling over $90,000,000 in sales.
Bret’s past projects include a 450,000-sf office park on NC State University’s Centennial Campus; a 2.3 million-sf industrial lab and office park near RTP; an 850,000-sf industrial park near RDU Airport; a 450,000-sf office in Cary; and an array of medical office buildings.
Bret is well-respected in the local, professional community. In 2012, his peers selected him to serve as President of Triangle Commercial Association of Realtors (“TCAR”), the second largest commercial overlay board in North Carolina. He also has served as Secretary and Treasurer for that organization, and he assisted with the formation of Total Access Commercial Real Estate Exchange (“Tacquire”). Bret has served as Treasurer of Triangle Area Office Building Association (“TRAOBA”). He was awarded Co-Star Power Broker Awards (2002 to 2012); Top Three Office Lease (2002); Top 3 Sales Transaction (2013); and Top Sales Transaction Award of TCAR (2013).
