Jim joined Capital Associates in August 2003 to manage the 432,000rsf Two Hannover Square Building and adjacent 465 space parking deck. He comes to Capital Associates with 38 years of diverse property management experience.
Jim began his career in property management in 1964 when he joined the General Services Administration (GSA), as a Building Management Specialist, administering the major improvement programs for 50,000,000rsf of office buildings including the HUD Headquarters, The Pentagon, and The White House.
Jim joined Spaulding & Slye Management Co. in 1972 as Regional Operations Manager, opened and managed the 32-story Wachovia Center, and developed operational and management programs for the company’s portfolio.
In 1978, Jim joined Mecklenburg County Government as the Director of Buildings and Grounds, directing and management of 3,000,000rsf of County owned properties. In 1983, Jim joined Faison & Associates as their Operations and Technical Director. During his 20 years with Faison, Jim opened 9 high-rise office buildings totaling 4,400,000rsf, and coordinated the operation and maintenance of the company’s portfolio of 60 million square feet. In his last 7 years with Faison, he was also the General Manager of Cross Creek Mall, a 1.2 million square foot regional shopping center, where he performed a $3,000,000 renovation of the common area and a $6,000,000 food court addition.
Jim received his Associates Degree in Air Conditioning Engineering from Old Dominion University, is a licensed Real Estate Broker in the State of North Carolina and has his Real Property Administrator (RPA) designation.
